Whatman plc - Board Changes

Whatman plc ("Whatman"), a leading global supplier of separations technology to the life sciences industry, today announces the appointment of Jeffrey Hewitt as a non-executive director.

Jeff, 59, is also Chairman of Plasmon plc and a non-executive director of TDG plc, Cookson Group plc, Dialight plc and Technetix Ltd and is the External Chairman of the Audit Committee of the John Lewis Partnership He was previously Deputy Chairman and Group Finance Director of Electrocomponents plc and Group Finance Director of Unitech plc.

Whatman also announces the retirement of Tom McNally and David Evans from their non-executive directorships.

“Tom McNally has been at the heart of Whatman's turnaround and the Company has benefitted greatly from his formidable experience of the healthcare sector.  For a time he also oversaw our US operations, particularly in Business Development and Sales, and then helped set up our Joint Venture in China.  I would like to thank him for his years of outstanding service at Whatman.

“David Evans has also made a very valuable contribution to the Whatman Board, not least through his extensive manufacturing expertise and we are indebted to him for his enthusiastic and energetic support.”

There are no further details to be disclosed under the Continuing Obligations provisions of the Listing Rules (new rules LR9.6.13).
