The Elu-Quik Kit relies on the affinity of DNA for glass particles in the presence of sodium perchlorate binding buffer. After several washing steps to remove contaminants and cellular debris, the DNA is eluted from the glass in TE-1 buffer or water. The highly pure DNA is ready for further analysis without the need for ethanol precipitation. The optimized buffers in the kit provide high yields and the unique rod-shaped glass particles reduce shearing of genomic DNA. Yields typically are greater than 650 µg from 108 cells.
