Nuclear power plants and research centers constantly monitor the air and the workers for exposure to radiation. Using Whatman GFA filters, air monitoring equipment sample the ambient air continuously. The filter paper is removed and analyzed for presence of alpha particles. PAS cards made of Whatman glass fiber materials are also used for similar purpose.
